Title

Performing Salaah with the urge of urinating - Is it Makrooh?

Question

Assalamu 'Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

This is a resubmission of two questions that were asked on 21/05/2020:

Please note that the wording may be different to the original submission.

1) After relieving oneself, if one has the urge to relieve oneself due to some reason other than the bladder being full (e.g due to cold), would it be makrooh to pray in that state?

2) Is it makrooh for a non-baaligh child to pray 'Asr Salah after the sun has changed colour and its rays have become yellow, just before maghrib?

Jazakallahu Khairan

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

(1)             In principle, it is essential to have complete concentration and devotion whilst performing Salaah. Any action that would decrease one’s concentration in Salaah will be considered Makrooh (disliked).

Accordingly, if one has a severe urge of urinating, he should relive himself before performing Salaah. [1]

If one has already relived himself, thereafter, has the urge of urinating again, then one will be excused.

(2)              It is not necessary for a Non-Baligh to perform Salaah. Then too, the parents should inculcate the habit in their children to perform Salaah on its time. [2]
