Title: Hajj with father in law.


Is a women allowed to travel for hajj and do hajj with her son in law?

Is a women allowed to travel for hajj and do hajj with her father in law?


In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, a father-in-law is a Mahram.1 One may go for Hajj with one’s father in law provided there is no fear of any Fitna.2

مَا يحرم بالصهرية

وَأما الصهر فهم أَرْبَعَة اصناف

أحدهم ابو الزَّوْج والجدود من قبل ابويه وان علوا يحرمُونَ على الْمَرْأَة وَتحرم هِيَ عَلَيْهِم دخل بهَا أَو لم يدْخل بهَا لقَوْله تَعَالَى {وحلائل أَبْنَائِكُم الَّذين من أصلابكم}

قَالَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ ( وَامْرَأَةِ أَبِيهِ وَابْنِهِ وَإِنْ بُعْدَا ) أَيْ تَحْرُمُ عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَةُ أَبِيهِ وَامْرَأَةُ ابْنِهِ وَإِنْ بَعُدَ

وروي عن أبي حنيفة وأبي يوسف كراهة خروجها وحدها مسيرة يوم واحد، وينبغي أن يكون الفتوى عليه لفساد الزمان شرح اللباب ويؤيده حديث الصحيحين «لا يحل لامرأة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر أن تسافر مسيرة يوم وليلة إلا مع ذي محرم عليها
