Title: Using husbands Haraam earnings

Question

My husband earns money by gambling - poker and bets. Can I use his money on me and my child? Can I pay his money for maid? Maid also worries will be salary halal?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Gambling is haraam and a major sin. The earnings through gambling is also haraam. The wife should convince her husband to leave haraam earnings and look for a lawful job. If he does not resist and the wife has no alternate income, then it will be permissible for her and the maid to take from her husband’s money. The sin of using gambling money will be on the husband[1]
