Title: 1. How does one wash off pig-related impurities? ...2. what is the proper method for cleaning a bucket/container/cup filled with najis water?

Question

1. How does one wash off pig-related impurities?  Is it the same way as any other najis thing, or do you have to wash 7 times and once with soil or something like that, as I've read from other sources?  are there any type of impurities require washing 7 times with water, once with soil?

2. what is the proper method for cleaning a bucket/container/cup filled with najis water?  if the person dumps out the water, many droplets still remain, which are najis.  once the person fills the container again with pure water, it will immediately become najis, wouldn't it?  and after he throws this water out, again najis droplets will remain, and this will continue.  so how does one clean a container filled with najis water?

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

1) It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (Radiallahu Anhu) that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “When a dog licks a utensil then wash it seven times. The first and last time with sand.” (Tirmizi, Pg: 72)

Based on this Hadith, Imam Shafi’ee and Ahmad ibn Hambal (Rahimahumallah) have opined that the utensil will only become pure after it is washed seven times. (Naf’u Qootil Mughtadhi).

According to the Hanafi Madh-hab, the utensil will become paak by washing it thrice. This is based on a hadith narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (Radiallahu Anhu) as well, in which it is mentioned that the utensil will become pure after washing it thrice. (Sharhu Ma’anil Aathaar)

There is no contradiction between the two Ahadith  i.e The hadith mentioning washing the utensil seven times and the Hadith mentioning washing the utensil three times as washing seven times is Mustahabb and washing thrice is Fardh. (Al-Arfush Shaziy)

The Fuqaha have categorized the saliva of the dog and pig in the same law, i.e, both are Najis (Impure). Hence the utensil will only become pure after it is washed thrice. (Nihayatul Muraad, Pg: 317)

2) The method of cleaning a bucket or utensil containing any Najis substance is to remove the Najasat and wash it thrice. After this is done, the utensil will be considered clean in the Shariah. (At- Tas-hih Wat- Tarjih ala Mukhtasaril Quduri. Pg: 151)

And Allah knows best
